Citec Engineering Oy Ab has landed a substantial contract regarding Westenergy Oy Ab’s waste incineration plant located just outside of Vaasa, Finland. The plant will take care of the waste from more than 400,000 people and it will produce electricity and district heat to the inhabitants of the Vaasa region.

Citec has been chosen by Ramboll Denmark A/S – the main consultant for the Westenergy project. The project work started in November 2009 and will last for approximately three years in total. Citec’s scope is to perform all needed services regarding detailed design and tendering of the civil works part. This means that Citec is to provide the detailed design of structures, architectural, HVAC and plumbing, building electrification, BMS/ICT, site works, geotechnical and fire simulation (CFD) as well as consultants on site. On average, the current scope will employ about 25-30 persons.

“We are very proud of receiving this project and look forward to bringing our best knowledge into the waste incineration plant project. Our solid reference cases and our multi-discipline engineering knowledge were the key factors when winning the contract,” says Conny Eklund, Sales Manager at Citec Engineering Oy Ab.

The Westenergy plant is quite a large building – 42 meters high and 170 meters long, the plant will for sure become a landmark in the region. The plant will be in operation in 2013.
