Citec has won a new order from Ahlstrom-Munksjö – a global leader in fiber-based materials, supplying innovative and sustainable solutions to its customers. The company invests in a more sustainable coating machine in Billingsfors, Sweden, to enable formaldehyde free balancing and finish foils for furniture, as well as building and construction industries. In addition to enabling formaldehyde free coating, the new coating machine will also reduce CO2 emissions by 20%, further strengthening Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s position as a supplier of sustainable fiber-based solutions. Th investment is expected to increase the plant’s manufacturing capacity and allow expansion to new geographical markets. It also increases utilization of the pulp mill at the plant.

Citec will primarily be hired to be part of the project management team, but Citec will also conduct plant engineering services. The project will run until the end of 2021 at Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s mill in Billingsfors. Citec will be a part of the project till the end of the project, which in practice means early 2022.

Fredrik Nilsson,  Managing Director Citec Sweden

Citec had a similar role in their successful  project between 2018 and 2019 (recovery boiler rebuild and pulp capacity increase) at the same mill.

“When Ahlstrom-Munksjö got the new project approved, they contacted Citec again. To win a key position in a new project so close after the previous one with the same customer is a proof of good trust, and a new opportunity to showcase our offering”,

says Fredrik Nilsson, Managing Director, Citec Sweden. “Initially this project will be done in Sweden, but the intention is to try to find opportunities for other parts of Citec as well”, says Fredrik.
