Tank design starts with making the dimensional drawing after getting the initial data. The dimensional drawing include at least the main dimensions of the tank as well as size and location of the connections.
After dimensional drawing, the tank calculation is done for the vertical tanks. Calculation programs are used to take into account the site conditions; wind velocity and seismic value. Among other things, it checks the plate thicknesses and gives the number of anchor bolts.
When the number of anchor bolts is known, the location of them must be checked so that they will not clash with tank connections.
Tank Data Sheets must be filled for vertical tanks.
In a project, all tanks are collected to the tank list. In that list also the shear force and moment values (from calculations) of each tank are shown. Civil designers need these values, when they design the tank foundation and anchor bolts on it.
All these documents are sent to tank manufacturer that make the manufacturing drawings.
