95 years of rail-vehicle experience

With TGB (Technisches Gemeinschaftsbüro GmbH), Citec can look back at almost 100 years of history in the railway industry business. Back in 1922, 22 locomotive manufacturers founded a unification office (Vereinheitlichungsbüro) in Berlin. Its purpose was to generate railway-specific standards and to avoid troubles in matters of interchangeability.

The office moved to Henschel in Kassel in 1946, Henschel was one of the most important companies in locomotive business. In 1952, the department was renamed TGB. Since 1962, TGB is a limited liability company (GmbH). Original shareholders were Henschel, Krauss-Maffei, Krupp and Jung as well as Maschinenfabrik Esslingen. In the early 1990s, Siemens bought the companies Mak (Maschinenbau Kiel) and Krupp and gained importance in the whole business. In 1997, Siemens became single-shareholder of TGB. In 2014, Citec Oy Ab bought TGB.
